I found the Black Diamond Spot 350 headlamp to be an excellent companion for all types of outdoor activities, both at night and during the day. Below I leave you some impressions.

The headlamp offers great illumination, both in distance and width. The main light is very powerful and allows you to clearly see obstacles or details on the road. For most situations, the medium intensity will be enough, which balances the width and range of the light beam very well. The low mode is very practical for close tasks or when the ambient lighting of the room is not sufficient for the task at hand.

Being powered by batteries, the high intensity mode is not very bright compared to other flashlights in the same range, so I do not recommend this headlamp for speed sports such as cycling or skiing, because the battery will last a few hours in the maximum power mode, required in this type of sports. On the contrary, if you want it for jogging or night walks, camping, hunting or fishing, or even working in dark areas, it is a very good option, since it is very comfortable to wear, it does not weigh much nor does it move when walking or run. The elastic strap adapts well to the head and is not tight or annoying.

The Spot 350 headlamp is very resistant and durable, it withstands water, dust and shocks well. The battery compartment cover closes well and does not open easily, although it leaves doubts as to its tightness since I do not see rubber seals or similar. The control buttons work well and do not get stuck or wear out. The battery indicator is very practical to know when to change the batteries or recharge them.

As aspects to consider, this front cannot be tilted up or down, it has a single fixed position. You should also know that it does not have padding in the contact area of the headlamp with the forehead, but since the headband is so light and fits so well, it is not a problem for most people.

In conclusion, the Black Diamond Spot 350 headlamp is an excellent option if you want a simple product without great features and are not looking for something very demanding. It has sufficient power, good durability, a comfortable and resistant design and a reasonable price.

How to use – Black Diamond Spot 350 tutorial

  • It has two upper buttons, a large main one in the center and a smaller one on the left (from the perspective of having it on)
  • The main button is used to turn on/off and to modify the light intensity. With each click you will go through the low, medium and high-intensity levels.
  • The secondary button will change the type of light, going from a wide beam with a shorter range to a more focused beam with a longer range. With another click you will go to the red light.
  • You can access full power mode – which combines wide beam and focused beam – simply by touching the front panel to the right of the device. They call it Power Tap. Another tap will disable it.
  • For strobe mode, double-click on the main button from any Mode you are in. It is deactivated with a double click.
  • To activate the Transport Lock, press and hold the two top buttons for 3 seconds, and the red LED will flash to warn. Repeat to unlock.
  • If it falls into water or water gets into the battery compartment, remove the batteries and let them dry before using again.

Parts and frame

The plastic body is small and light, with very good quality manufacturing, with easy-to-manipulate buttons. It is waterproof at IPX8 level, and can be submerged in fresh water up to 1.5 meters for a maximum of 30 minutes. On the upper face are the two control buttons, a larger main one in the center and a smaller secondary one towards one edge.

At the back of the body you will find the battery compartment, which opens from the side. The lid does not come off, it has a fixed hook on one side; If water gets on it, you must remove the batteries and wait for it to dry before using again. On the right side is the Power Tap “button”, which activates High Power Mode, it is a touch button with the correct sensitivity.

On the left side, there are 3 lights that indicate the battery level, to know how much energy you have left you must press and hold the main button for 6 seconds and you will see how much energy you have left according to the following configuration:

  • 3 steady lights: between 100% and 80% charge.
  • 2 solid lights and one flashing: between 80% and 60% charge
  • 2 steady lights: between 60% and 40% charge
  • 1 steady light and 1 flashing: between 40% and 20% charge
  • 1 steady light: between 20% and 10% charge
  • 1 flashing light: less than 10% charge

The light is made up of three LEDs, two white and one red. One white LED emits a wide, short-range beam, while the other emits a focused, long-range beam. When you activate the Power Tap, both work simultaneously. The third LED emits steady red light.

The strap that holds the front to your head is elastic, adjustable and comfortable, with a reflective logo to improve visibility, which can be removed for washing. The entire set is very comfortable and does not present any discomfort, especially because it is very light.

What do users think of the Black Diamond Spot 350?

Opinion 5/5 ⭐

Very good light. Many lighting options. Light and if the maximum brightness is not abused, great durability. It helps a lot to be able to see the remaining battery level. The option to switch to full brightness with one touch is very useful.

Opinion 4/5 ⭐

It adapts perfectly to my needs, it is very light, very comfortable, with a very wide viewing angle. Good battery life (battery operated). Enough for camping, camp

Opinion 3/5 ⭐

The beam is too bright and narrow at the same time. As a result, you get a little dazzled, you see through the fog.
